Serenity and Antonio meet by fate -- and internet. Serenity, living then in Louisville, KY was developing an organization for minority web developers and it was suggested that Antonio, a Pasadena , CA resident and native, and a fellow web designer and developer, might be a good addition to the group. They played e-mail tag for a week, then Serenity finally was able to get in contact with him over ICQ on September 1, 2000. That first conversation led to many hours spent chatting, getting to really know one another. It was not long (a few days in fact) That they realized they had found their soulmate within the other. Ten days after teh first fateful conversation, Antonio proposed to Serenity sight unseen. Without a moment's hesitation, Serenity gladly accepted the proposal.
The two were wed March 20, 2001, during a whirlwind trip to Las Vega. The next day, Antonio left for Basic Training with the U.S. Army in Fort Jackson, SC, while Serenity returned to Louisville. The next six years, the two were committed to each other and to Antonio's military career. They made their first home in Hanau, Germany for the next three years. During that time, Antonio was deployed to Iraq for Operation Iraqi Freedom with the 1st Armored Division. He remained in Iraq for 15 months. A year after his return, Antonio received orders to return to the states and the couple made a new home at Fort Bragg in North Carolina. Antonio subsequently spent 8 months of the two and half years they were stationed there on temporary duty at Fort Hood, Tx. Antonio finished his initial enlistment in September of 2006, and the couple decided they wanted to make their forever home on the west coast, and they moved to Phoenix, AZ, where they currently reside. Antonio now works as a technical support specialist for the University of Phoenix Online, and Serenity is employed as a Customer Support Representative for Vianet, Inc., an information technology company. They both are currently continuing their education as well -- Antonio is enrolled full-time at the University of Phoenix pursuing a degree in Information Technology and Serenity attends Rio Salado College full-time, double majoring in Psychology and Philosophy. The two continue to also to work together on freelance web design and development project, and are developing a couple podcast. |
They agreed to meet for the first time face-to-face two months later in Atlanta, GA forr Serenity's 32nd birthday -- November 4, 2000. The connection the two felt over the internet was made permanent by a second proposal from Antonio.
